Dear Florida…

After hurricane Helene and Milton we weren’t sure if we would be able to travel to Florida’s west coast. We had to change some of our travel plans but in the end everything worked out perfectly.

The arrival at Tampa airport was a wonderful experience. The people there are so helpful, friendly and relaxed. We never got so easy and quick from immigration procedure to the rental car station.

First Stop: Central Florida

Central Florida was our first stop because we wanted to visit Kelly Springs again.

We brought tubes to float in the springs.
Our accommodation in Mount Dora.
The alligators were everywhere, also relaxing at parking lots.
Stop at Gideon’s

Our second stop: Fort Myers & Sanibel

We rented a wonderful house for one week.

The house was the perfect location to explore the coast and to visit Sanibel again and again.

First found, painted shell from Queenie at the parking lot
Treasures from shelling
New ice cream spot on Sanibel
And of course: we visited The Shack
Naples
Bonita Springs

Third Stop: Siesta Key & Tampa Bay Area

Originally we planned to stay in Siesta Key for some days but the landfall of hurricane Milton was on Siesta Key. But in the second week of our vacation Sarasota County opened Siesta Key Beach for public again. And so we could have a beach day there. We were really impressed how much work the people did in this short amount of time to make this place feel like paradise again.
