Take a deep breath and relax. For us the Baltic Sea Fjord Schlei is our all time favourite destination. In the last 9 years we didn’t miss a visit to this beautiful area in Schleswig-Holstein even once. This post is a very special love letter. – We made so many wonderful memories there.
Beaches
Between Flensburg and Eckernförde there are many beaches for swimming, relaxing and water sports. We prefer Fischleger in the south of Damp because of the mostly sandy beach and the clear water. You can always find a nice spot for your beach towels. Weidefelder beach near Kappeln is also great to enjoy the Baltic Sea. In Eckernförde we combine beach hours with shopping in the lovely old city centre.
Pretty *by-villages
Along the Schlei there are many pretty villages with thatched houses and colorful gardens. The peaceful, quite atmosphere is soothing. We love the *by-villages, especially Fleckeby, Sieseby and Weseby. But everytime when we pass Gammelby we have to smile because there is a recycling center. But we doubt there is a connection.
In Weseby each year we meet the Naschikönig. Originally he comes from Berlin. Naschikönig operates a very famous candy store at the Schlei, you can choose from a huge range of sweets. Each step from choosing to buying is special. We love it!
Fruit picking
Every summer we pick fruit in the fields: strawberries in June, cherries and raspberries in July. The fruits are so delicious, we have to eat lots of them while picking them for homemade cake and jam. When we enjoy our jam we remember our summer vacation. It’s a lovely souvenir.
Amrum
Allthough we are loving the Baltic Sea we are visiting Amrum for one day nearly every year . It is a beautiful island with an impressive landscape: dunes, a wide beach, Kniepsand, picturesque villages.
